About Tom:

Tom is a highly experienced English teacher with over 18 years of classroom practice across Key Stage 3, GCSE, and A Level. Having worked primarily in the UK independent sector — as well as internationally in Australia — he brings a broad, informed perspective to his teaching. Alongside his academic roles, Tom has held a range of senior leadership positions focused on pastoral care, student welfare, and safeguarding, giving him a deep understanding of the wider factors that influence student success.

Now combining tutoring with his ongoing work as a school inspector for the Independent Schools Inspectorate, Tom offers students a calm, insightful, and highly personalised approach. His sessions are designed not only to strengthen subject knowledge and exam performance, but also to rebuild confidence, address gaps in learning, and help students reconnect with education in a way that feels purposeful and achievable. With a strong belief in adaptive provision, Tom creates a supportive learning environment where students feel understood, stretched, and empowered to succeed.
